bedrest is going beautifully

This is about how my week has gone. Trying to rest while basically letting the little man get into whatever trouble he will within reason. I'm on "modified" bedrest, so I'm supposed to be resting as much as I can but I'm okay to walk around.  I have strict instructions to not lift a thing or basically do anything that require me to use my stomach muscles.  Like lift my two year old up from all the places he climbs onto. But I really have been so blessed this week. My kids have been so happy and Brett has been great to come home and do all the things I haven't done in the day.

I had another visit to the hospital yesterday with more bleeding. She is still moving around and sounds good as far as they can tell. They are hoping the tear will heal and that she'll be able to stay put for the rest of the pregnancy. I on the other hand have been a nervous wreck about the whole thing. I just hope the doctors know what they are doing. It sounds like one of those things though that you won't really know how well she has fared until she is born. She could be just fine and be perfect or she could have been not getting enough oxygen and nutrients, we won't know until the end. It's amazing how I can worry so much about a little person that hasn't even been born yet.
Thanks for your comments and prayers, really it feels good to know you care!

Pregnancy update: bedrest and all

We had an awful scare this weekend. I ended up in the hospital twice due to some bleeding. My doctor diagnosed me as having a placenta abruption, which means that my placenta has pulled away from my uterus.  It is terrifying to me since they don't know how bad the tear or tears have been. It can deprive her of nutrients and oxygen which makes it pretty serious. She is measuring a little bit further along which is good but we are still only at 33 weeks.
I am home now, on bedrest, and trying to be as careful as possible. It is quite the balance act caring for the two busy ones and making sure I am resting as much as I can be. And it's only been two days. It has put so much in perspective to me. I have definetely overlooked how fortunate I've been with my past pregnancies. The more I read about it the more serious it sounds so I'm trying to be very good about it. I'm pretty sure looking online at information on things like that is about the worst thing to do. It's good to learn about it but has scared me to death. There are women that carry their babies full-term with bedrest and then others that have lost their babies even when they were much further along. I'm so grateful that I'm this far along at least and that the outlook for our baby is good if they have to deliver her but oh, what a roller-coster it's been. Every little ache I feel floods me with worry but I'm trying to fight off the anxiety. I just have to keep breathing and to have faith that it will all turn out alright.

I would love it if you remembered us in your prayers!

27 weeks pregnant

You know what's really embarrassing? Taking photos of yourself growing huge and then posting them for all your friends to see. Pretty silly and yet here I am. I'll be glad later, right? At least they'll be good for laughs.

I had a little scare of contractions last week. Two hours of contractions that were close together, super regular and super painful.  I couldn't talk or walk through them.  The nurse told me to come in as soon as I called and they stopped as soon as I got to labor and delivery. They did a fetal fibrosis test and said it was false labor. I haven't felt anything since so hopefully they weren't anything but a fluke. I don't want our little girl coming until she's good and ready.

No lie, in the past few weeks four people that I don't know have told me that I look good for being so far along. Then they ask how long I have to go and find out that I'm not really that far along. Thirteen weeks more weeks. I've been lucky though. This summer has been good to me. The weather has been mild, perfect for a summer pregnancy.

So one more week until I am officially in my last trimester. My laid back attitude I had a few weeks ago when I felt completely comfortable to wait out the summer for our dovie to come have disappeared and I'm getting impatient already. Funny how a pregnancy can  go so fast and yet it still feels like it's not fast enough.

20 weeks: halfway home

Yesterday we had our official ultrasound. It's my favorite day of being pregnant, the day of the ultrasound. Other than actually having the baby, of course. I love hearing those reassuring words from the ultrasound tech, you know, beautiful kidneys, heart, and brain, no spina-bifida and everything else that they can see. Hearing that everything checks out a-okay feels so good.  Our little dovie was so fun to watch too. She had her feet up by her face and was playing with them with her little hands.
We have a friend who is an ultrasound tech who let us come in when I was fourteen weeks to find out what we are having but it was pretty early to be sure. This one confirmed we were having a girl. And as a plus they moved my due date up ten days. Whoop-whoop. Which makes me twenty-two weeks pregnant. The big day is October 5th now.

I feel like my belly is so much bigger much sooner than before but that is to be expected with my third pregnancy. Already I feel like I am walking with that pregnancy waddle. This time I feel more patient about being pregnant. I don't feel that urgency for the wait to be over like I did with my first two. I'm just fine to have her all to myself for now and wait out the summer until she comes.

better days

The last two days have been beautiful. We seem to have lots more coming our way. I feel like better days have arrived. Not only just the weather but my days of being sick too.  I have had
fewer bad days and even the bad days really aren't that bad. You know compared to throwing up all the time and being dehydrated.  Can I tell you how nice it is to eat normal food and to be able to drink water without getting sick? This pregnancy has given me a new appreciation for all the simple things I take for granted, like my health and even just having the energy and strength to take care of my family.

Having a backyard has changed my life. It's so nice to let them go out and play. They're so much happier when they get a little sunshine.

my happy reasons for my house still looking like it does

This little bug,

our serious little man,

and the main reason, the little bean growing in that belly of mine. We are so happy to be expecting #3. It has been crazy being pregnant this time around. Like I said we really are so happy but wow, I thought it was tough being pregnant with Amelie but this time around has been so much worse. It took both Brett and I six months to decide to get pregnant. First I was ready but he wasn't, and then about three months later Brett told me he thought he could handle it. Then it was me that was thinking about how getting pregnant for me is so awful. And it has been awful, I don't throw up as much as I did with Amelie, around four or five times a day has been my average this time around but I am so nauseous all the time. I could still function and work with Amelie but this time around I'm just miserable and super weak. Probably because I am so dehydrated. We have been really blessed to have friends help out with my kids and people have brought us meals. People even cleaned our old place for us when we moved without me knowing. It is hard being on the receiving side but I am really grateful for all the help.
It has gotten better in the couple of weeks. For the most part I don't throw up more than once a day. I have more good days now that I have passed the twelve week mark. So even though it's been worse this time around it has eased up a lot earlier. It's so strange to me how every pregnancy has been so different for me.
But that's our news. It's killing me not having the energy to work on the house as much as I have wanted to but I just keep trying to be patient. I'm not very good at that. Brett would definitely agree on that.  I am just starting to show which I'm glad for. It's always nice to have something to show for all of this. I don't know if I'm going to have the guts to get pregnant again. This just might be our last baby so I'm going to take pictures of my belly this time around. Just thought I would warn you.
