dancing in the sea

at the end of one day in sunny california we caught the sunset at the beach. we played tag and danced and then i watched this wisp of a girl dance in her own world until she succumbed to the rest she so needed after a full day in the sun. it was pretty magical. not really because of the sunset but just because she is so free and blissfully happy. her allergies and stomaches were nonexistent in california and as soon as we got back it was back to coughs and belly aches. it's been the same every time we visit. that ocean air really is something. it has me thinking a lot about these littles and what's the best for them. oh the decisions that parenthood brings.

Point Loma

We headed to the Cabrillo National Monument and the old Point Loma lighthouse while we were in San Diego. The views were incredible and between the tide pools and the sweeping views it's one of those "you just have to go" places. This light house is one of the first on the west coast and is something like 150 years old. It is a museum now with each room decorated as if it was still lived in. It was so charming. It's amazing that a family lived in it for so long, for three generations. We drove through the cemetery of the war veterans and felt humbled by how far the graves can be seen.
