dovie's birth story

I was set on going into labor on my own this time but I because of the abruption I had earlier my doctor wanted to induce me. I had frequent ultrasounds and the last one I had showed that she hadn't grown much in two weeks so he figured she was better off being born two weeks early than not and risking her not getting enough nutrients. I was a little sad about it but of course I'd rather her be alright and getting out of being pregnant for two more weeks was nice too.

Here we are at the hospital. Just getting started on pitocin and still feeling good.

Not feeling so hot anymore at this point. I pushed through two contractions. I pushed through the first contraction and then I didn't have a contraction for another five minutes. It was so funny. There everyone was ready for her to come and it was dead silent for what seemed like forever. But she came out easily when that second contraction came. For how ugly my pregnancies can be I have gotten lucky when it comes to delivering these babies of mine.

She came out cheesy as can be. She was so calm and just perfect.  I love holding them for the first time. That moment is better than a dozen Christmas mornings.

Two sisters meeting for the first time. A has been talking about this moment for months.

Brett goes back to work tomorrow and our little babymoon will be over. I'm a little nervous about having three by myself, I'll be honest. Brett's been amazing about letting me just be with her so we'll see how it goes tomorrow.  I'm just going for keeping everyone happy and fed and I'll worry about my house later.

  1. There she is!! Beautiful.

Seriously, how the heck do you look so put-together during labor and delivery?? You look like you're ready to go out on the town! Me... I look sweaty, tired, and have mascara-y raccoon eyes. You go, girl!

  3. Katy & Nat said it best....you look like you walked out of a magazine shoot and said, K lets have a baby now too! I look like I walked out of a horror movie! :) And I love how she has a bow on already! She's adorable...cheesy and all!!! Congrats! I gotta say, the transition from 2 to 3 kids is tough, but the older 2 learn quick how to help out a lot more!! Good luck Jessica! You'll do great!!!

  5. You are definitely the most beautiful mother I've seen who has just given birth! Wow!

Let me know when we can come visit. I promise to clean stuff and help out with your kids and not steal your baby from you too much- I hated it when other people wanted to hold Wyatt! You definitely deserve to hold that sweet baby all you want. :)
